Givenchy Fall 2011 Collection

We've been looking at these pictures for HOURS trying to come up with something to say. Every time, we stare and stare, until finally one of us says "I can't" and closes the window. We briefly considered doing a Dress Libs entry but believe it or not, they're actually harder to write than a simple IN OR OUT post.

Okay, let's work through this together, like we just survived a natural disaster or something. Hold our hands, girls. We need your support.

Black tights, a men's oversized T and a tuxedo jacket is actually something of a classic. Women have been wearing a variation on this look for 30 years (and if you really want to get picky - and very gay - about it, its roots stretch back over 60 years). We have no real issue with the basic idea here. But gee, something seems a little off. We just can't put our finger on it. There's just...something...a little...distracting.

Look, we're fans of Givenchy as much as the next pink-blooded male, but come ON. On a guy this shirt looks stupid; on a woman it just looks... odd. Like, what exactly was she thinking when she put this on? "Yes! People will recoil from my torso tonight!"

It's not that we think all women should dress themselves based solely on the idea of pleasing others (which is exactly how a lot of people think), but this is so ... off-putting. "Darling, I'd love to stay and chat with you but your aggressive t-shirt is freaking me out."

And speaking of torsos... she's not pregnant, right? Because if she is, you can disregard the following, but this thing's so huge on her and the way she's wearing the jacket on her shoulders makes her look, well... pregnant. And even if she IS pregnant, there are better ways to dress than this outfit, which, while no doubt worth more than your mortgage payment, still looks totally "People of Walmart" to us.

There. We've managed to get past our initial speechless shock. We're so proud. Sometimes these starlets really throw us for a loop.

Oh yeah. She's SO very O to the UT.
