Can you believe Christmas is in 15 days?! I know I can't, and it definitely is one of my favorite holidays! Growing up in a small 2-bedroom apartment in a suburb near San Francisco, I still enjoyed the small pleasures of the holidays. To get in the spirit, my mom and I have been listening to Christmas songs she has downloaded and hooked up to her bluetooth speaker. As for me, I found 2 videos I want to share with you to get into that same joyful spirit. Enjoy!
1. Disney Sing Along Songs — Very Merry Christmas Songs (1988): One of my fondest memories as a child was watching this video every year during the holiday, compiling of Disney's versions of Christmas classics, such as Deck The Halls, Jingle Bells, Joy To The World, Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, Silent Night, etc. I also had other Disney Christmas videos, but I am SO glad this was uploaded on YouTube! It takes me back 20 years...when times were much more innocent.
2. 12 Days of Christmas featuring the Rockettes: I found this video after looking up more versions of "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers", and found that the Radio City Rockettes have their own performance of that song. I kept clicking, and I found this little gem! The Rockettes are a world class dance company (specializing in tap, ballet and jazz), performing numbers every year around the holidays at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I've always been fascinated with the Rockettes, and I even did a report and presentation about them when I took a Dance History/Appreciation class in college. Of course, my height and lack of dance training make me unqualified, but it makes me wish I took more dance classes when I was younger, and that I wish I took them more seriously. How they all perform crisply and in unison while keeping a smile is beyond me. I hope next time Cecilio and I go back to NYC that we can go around the holiday season to watch them.
