Film/TV Series Night

The following shows are in no particular order. Maybe you'll have some time over this ~~Christmas season~~ New Year to check them out, whether you're in lockdown or isolation, etc ... I don't really watch TV (yes) - but when I do, I'm usually particular about what I watch. The programs mentioned here have my approval (because it matters) and I consider them worthwhile to watch if you have 30mins or more to spare. Since time is precious, I only have four recommendations for starters - till next time.

Games of Thrones

It took me a while but this month (2020) I've finished watching the end of the show - Ugh, I understand why there was an uproar but, I get it ... If you're after a drama that is visually stunning and filled with plot twists that you really can't guess this is the perfect drama. Warning - the show does contain nudity, crass words, and broaches subjects and storylines to make even those with the strongest constitutions stomachs churn - but, if you can get past being "flashed" every now and again, gross couplings, and scenes of warfare - its truly a great program that manages to delicately bring together a somewhat Arthurian fairytale along with apocalyptic zombies (aka whitewalkers) - and it works!

The Walking Dead

Zombies are not my thing but, what I really love(d) about this series was the storyline - it's brilliant. Unlike the other shows I've mentioned here, I have not finished watching the entire series because at times the momentum can be infuriatingly tedious but the initial series holds many gems. I'm currently at the point where eradicating Negan is a good no great idea - even though he's been given some empathy - really? How you gonna do this to us now?! .... Anyway, if it's your first time watching the series once you get into it - it's worth it. Plus, the zombie makeup is exceptionally gross - well done.
